An insert section (16) of an electronic endoscope (10) has an air and water nozzle (24), a forceps outlet (28), an observation window (37), and a fluid guide slope (48a) at its distal portion (16a). The fluid guide slope (48a) situated in an ejection area of fluid ejected from the air and water nozzle (24) connects a flat surface (36c) to the forceps outlet (28) in an inclined manner relative to the flat surface (36c) of the distal portion (16a). The length of the fluid guide slope (48a) is gradually increased with distance from the air and water nozzle (24). Water droplets ejected from the air and water nozzle (24) and building up easily flow along the fluid guide slope (48a). Applying negative pressure to a suction conduit (30) connected to the forceps outlet (28) sucks the water droplets adhering to the fluid guide slope (48a).
