Both the acquisition of the transmission data and the measurement of the disappearing pair of radiation are performed simultaneously by a single detector ring to reduce both the manufacturing cost of the PET device and the burden on the subject. That is, the transmission data representing the distribution of the absorption characteristics of the disappearing radiation in the subject is calculated from the data on pairs of disappearing radiation originated from the vicinity of the surface of the subject.
