A system for ablative treatment of a targeted lung tissue, the system comprising: an ablation energy source; a shaft configured to advance through an airway passage of a lung, the shaft having an active portion including at least one ablation element connectable to the ablation energy source; a device configured for reducing volume of a portion of lung tissue in correspondence of the shaft active portion; an irrigator configured for dispensing a conductive fluid to said shaft active portion; a controller connected to the ablation source and to the irrigator, wherein the controller is configured for: controlling the ablation source to deliver ablation energy to the ablation electrode, and controlling the irrigator to dispense conductive fluid to said shaft active portion.
