A medical imaging system having a processor (4) with software executing thereon is provided for processing and display of multiple bandwidths (462, 502) of video in multiple display areas (80, 82). The system receives a video signal (20, 20') with a plurality of portions (1...N) and generates at least two signals (1, 3, 5,..., N; 2, 4, 6,..., N) therefrom. Each of the two signals has a bandwidth (462, 462', 502, 502') for display in a different display area (80, 82). The two signals (46, 50) are updated (48) so that each component displays a different portion of the input video signal, and the two signals may be combined for display on a single display device (8) having two display areas (80, 82).
