An aqueous aromatic composition containing a lactone fragrance and/or a ketone fragrance, wherein proliferation of fungi and eumycetes is sufficiently suppressed. Specifically disclosed is an aqueous aromatic composition containing a lactone fragrance and/or a ketone fragrance, and an organic iodine antiseptic agent, wherein the organic iodine antiseptic agent is contained in an amount of not less than the total weight of 1/500 of the weight of the lactone fragrance and 1/50 of the weight of the ketone fragrance contained in the fragrances. Also disclosed is an organic iodine antiseptic agent which is used for the purpose of preventing proliferation of fungi and/or eumycetes in an aqueous aromatic composition containing a lactone fragrance and/or a ketone fragrance.
