The use of xybornol as an active agent in the treatment of acne vulgaris is disclosed. The xybornol showed remarkable bacteriostatic action and bactericidal action against bacteria that are the main cause of the onset and exacerbation of acne vulgaris, that is, bacteria called Propionibacterium acnes. Also disclosed is a pharmaceutical or cosmetic composition comprising xybornol and a pharmaceutically or cosmetically acceptable excipient for use in the treatment of acne vulgaris.尋常性ざ瘡の治療における活性剤としてのキシボルノールの使用が開示されている。前記キシボルノールは、尋常性ざ瘡の発症と悪化の主な原因となる細菌、すなわちプロピオニバクテリウム・アクネスなる細菌に対して、顕著な静菌作用及び殺菌作用を示した。また尋常性ざ瘡の治療に使用するための、キシボルノールと、薬学的又は美容的に許容される賦形剤を含む医薬組成物又は化粧品組成物も開示されている。
