according to this invention is provided a geotextile comprising natural and synthetic fibres. The natural fibre used is jute and the synthetic fibre used is polyolefin. The poly-jute union fabric is prepared either in circular loom or in flatbed loom involving jute yarn in weft and polyolefin yarn in warp direction. In accordance with this invention, jute fibres (Corcorus Olitorius) of TD 4 grade (BIS, 1987) from different agro-climatic zones were used for preparation of jute yarns and the polyolefin is selected from polyester, nylon, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), high density polyethylene (HDPE) and polypropylene (PP). The synthetic fibres are used as flat tapes or twisted fibrillated tapes in the warp or weft direction.
