A patient therapy system (100) comprising: an implantable portion in the patient that includes a pulse generator (101) and a signal delivery device (109) having an electrical contact positioned to be in electrical communication with a target neural population of a patient when implanted, and configured to deliver an electrical signal that has one or more signal delivery parameters; an impedance detector located in the implantable portion, where the impedance detector is operatively connected to an electrical circuit that includes the electrode to detect an impedance of the electrical circuit; and a processor (107) located in the implantable portion in the patient, where the processor has a computer-readable medium programmed with instructions that, when executed: receives an indication of an impedance change of the impedance detector; determines whether the electrical signal exceeds a predetermined compliance voltage value; and is based at least in part on the change of impedance detected and without human intervention, the value of the parameter or the parameters of signal administration are automatically adjusted in accordance with which the implantable portion in the patient administers the electrical signal to the contact electric; where, if it is determined that the predetermined conformance voltage value has been exceeded, the instructions, when executed, adjust the conformance voltage value; where the instructions, when executed, also: automatically identify changes in the impedance of the electrical circuit as a function of time; based at least in part on the identification of changes in impedance as a function of time, it predicts a future value of impedance; and based at least in part on the predicted future value of the impedance, it automatically performs a task.Un sistema de terapia del paciente (100) que comprende: una porción implantable en el paciente que incluye un generador de impulsos (101) y un dispositivo de administración de la señal (109) que
