A surgical drainage system for use during and after surgery is presented. The collection reservoir is disposed in fluid communication with the body of the user through the collection port. The pump creates a vacuum pressure to force the fluid into the collection reservoir. The fluid exits the collection reservoir through the drain port. The drainage mechanism allows the collected fluid to exit the collection reservoir while allowing air to enter the collection reservoir through the air intake opening.
