PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet joining method capable of positioning a sheet side edge at high speed while saving a space, and improving a step trouble or a yield in a joining step of a plurality of sheets.
SOLUTION: The sheet joining method superimposes a side edge portions 110 of a sheet 11 transferred in a longitudinal direction and side edge portions 120, 130 of sheets 12, 13 to be joined at predetermined width. The edges of the side edge portions 120, 130 in the transferred sheets 12, 13 are detected by a position detecting means 2. According to the detection result, the sheet 11 is partially recessed and shifted in a width direction, and an inner edge of a joint portion 100 of the sheets and the edges of the side edge portions 120, 130 of the sheets 12, 13 are positioned.
