The present invention relates to theranostic nanoparticles simultaneously representing diagnostic and therapeutic effects, and a manufacturing method thereof. More specifically, the present invention relates to magnetic nanoparticles in which DO3A-BTA is covalently bonded to a magnetic core having a silicon coating layer, and a manufacturing method thereof. The magnetic nanoparticles according to the present invention represent excellent water solubility and colloidal stability, and simultaneously represent an MRI contrast effect and a tumor treatment effect, thereby being usefully used as the theranostic nanoparticles capable of simultaneously performing diagnosis and treatment. The DO3A-BTA of chemical formula 1 is covalently bonded to a cluster core of gadolinium (Gd) nanoparticles having the silica coating layer.본 발명은 진단과 치료효과를 동시에 나타내는 테라노스틱 나노입자 및 이의 제조방법에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 실리카 코팅층을 가지는 자성체 코어에 DO3A-BTA가 공유결합 되어 있는 자성 나노입자 및 이의 제조방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 자성 나노입자는 우수한 수용해성 및 콜로이드 안정성을 나타낼 뿐만 아니라, MRI 조영효과와 종양치료 효과를 동시에 나타내어 진단과 치료를 동시에 수행할 수 있는 테라노스틱(theranostic) 나노입자로서 유용하게 활용될 수 있다.
