To provide a structure and method for detachably fitting a buttress material to a circular surgical stapling device for using the device in anastomosis manipulation.SOLUTION: A circular stapling device includes a staple cartridge 315, a pusher 313, and a buttress 316. The staple cartridge has a tissue-contact surface and supports a fastener array therein. The pusher is structured so as to move to the staple cartridge for firing the fastener from the staple cartridge.
