A knob (30) of a fishing reel (1) including a core (31) rotatably supported via a spindle (20), and a tubular grip member (35) formed of an elastic material and fitted round the core (31), wherein the core (31) is provided with a deformation-applying portion (34a) for contacting the inner surface (35a) of the grip member (35) and causing the outer shape of the grip member (35) to deform and bulge in a direction orthogonal to the axis of the spindle (20). A method of fabricating such a knob (30) of a fishing reel (1) comprises the steps of pressing, in the course of fitting the grip member (35) round the core (31), the deformation-applying portion (34a) against an inner surface (35a) of the grip member (35) to cause elastic deformation of the grip member (35), such that an outer shape of the grip member (35) deforms and bulges in a direction orthogonal to an axis of the core (31).
