This invention relates to novel intermediate, formula (A) for rivaroxaban and process for the preparation thereof. Further it extends to the process for preparation of rivaroxaban by using the said novel intermediate, by treating with 5-chlorothiophene carbonyl chloride to form the rivaroxaban derivatives of formula (B). The obtained formula (B) further treated with acid to form rivaroxaban.Cette invention concerne un nouvel intermédiaire, formule (A), pour le rivaroxaban et son procédé de préparation. Elle s'étend en outre à un procédé de préparation du rivaroxaban faisant appel audit nouvel intermédiaire, par traitement avec un chlorure de 5-chlorothiophène carbonyle pour former des dérivés de rivaroxaban de formule (B). Le produit de formule (B) obtenu est en outre traité avec un acide pour former le rivaroxaban.
