To provide an ophthalmic solution which exhibits high retention in eye mucous membrane, is excellent in antibacterial activity and has low viscosity during storage without causing precipitate.
SOLUTION: The ophthalmic solution is prepared by compounding (a) a sulfa drug which does not form a metal salt, (b) a gellan gum and (c) trometamol. The ophthalmic solution is prepared by compounding (a) a sulfa drug which does not form a metal salt, (b) a gellan gum with a content of 0.001 W/V% or more but not more than 0.07 W/V% and (c) trometamol and/or monoethanolamine.
