PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide impaired wound healing compositions and treatments.SOLUTION: Methods, compounds, compositions, kits and articles of manufacture comprising one or more gap junction modulating agents for treatment of wounds that do not heal at expected rates, including chronic wounds, delayed healing wounds, incompletely healing wounds, and dehiscent wounds in a subject in need thereof. In one embodiment the invention is direct to a method of treating a subject having a chronic wound comprising administration of a composition comprising an effective amount of a gap junction modulating agent to the wound.
