The present invention relates to a composition for preventing or treating corneal damage, containing thymosin 4 and citric acid or a salt thereof as an active ingredient The composition of the present invention is able to additionally contain at least one organic acid selected from acetic acid, ascorbic acid, or a salt thereof. The composition of the present invention effectively treats scars on cornea, and thus can be used as ophthalmic preparations for treating corneal damage, as the composition maintains or increases activities of thymosin 4 which has previously been used.본 발명은 티모신 β4 및 시트르산 또는 이의 염을 유효성분으로 포함하는 각막 손상 예방 또는 치료용 조성물에 대한 것으로, 상기 조성물은 추가적으로 아세트산, 아스코르브산, 또는 이의 염으로부터 선택되는 어느 하나의 유기산을 포함할 수 있다. 상기 조성물은 종래에 사용되던 티모신 β4의 활성을 유지 또는 증가시킴으로써, 각막에 생긴 상처를 효과적으로 치료할 수 있으므로 각막 손상 치료를 위한 안과용 제제로 사용될 수 있다.
