A cosmetic composition comprising 1.0 to 20 wt.% wax 0.1 to 1.5 wt.% thickener 1.0 to 15 wt.% emulsifier 1.0 to 15 wt.% film-forming polymer 1.0 to 15 wt.% organic polyol and 1.0 to 90 wt.% water, all in relation to the overall weight of the cosmetic composition, wherein the weight ratio of wax to thickener is from 40:1 to 1:1. The wax may be selected from beeswax, carnauba wax, candelilla wax and paraffin wax. The thickener may be a polymeric organic thickener such as an acrylic acid homopolymer. The emulsifier may be a polyalkoxylated fatty alcohol. The film-forming polymer may be selected from the group of polyvinylpyrrolidones and vinylpyrrolidone/vinylacetate copolymers. The polyol may be selected from the group of propylene glycol, glycerin and panthenol. The composition may comprise 2.0 to 10 wt.% of a lipid differing from the wax such as a mineral oil, natural oil, synthetic oil or mixture thereof. The composition may be in the form of a paste. The composition is for the temporary deformation of keratinous fibers.
