A method for the isolation of antioxidant flavonoids from the weed Coronopus didymus comprising the collecting the weed and drying the same to remove surface moisture, subjecting the dried weed to the step of powdering, preparing extract TV by macerating powdered drug in solvent A, subjecting the extract A to the step of evaporation, extracting the dried extract with hydrocarbon solvent B, extracting the residue with the solvent C, dissolving the residue thus obtained subsequent to the extraction with solvent C, in water and partitioned with solvent D, subjecting the aqueous solution of the residue to the step of partitioning with solvent E, drying the solvent E portion under vacuum to produce a dry residue, crystallizing the dried residue to produce crystals.
