The present invention relates to the use of antisecretory factors, such as antisecretory proteins,homologues, derivatives and/or fragments thereof having antisecretory activity,for the manufacture of a pharmaceutical composition for use in the treatmentand/or prevention of intraocular hypertension. The invention thus relatesto the use of pharmaceutical compositions comprising antisecretory factorsin the treatment and/or prevention of intraocular hypertension, which is preferablycharacterized by hampered outflow of body fluid resulting in elevated pressurein the eye. The invention provides for a novel approach for treating and/or preventingsuch a condition turning the intraocular pressure to an acceptable level, optionally21 mm Hg, or less.
