Disclosed is isolated fully human monoclonal antibody, wherein said monoclonal antibody has the following characteristics: (a) specifically binds to a non-linear epitope in the ectodomain (M2e) of the matrix 2 (M2) tetrameric protein of an influenza virus (b) specifically binds to a non-linear epitope of influenza A on infected cells and (c) specifically binds to a non-linear epitope of the influenza A virus, wherein said epitope includes the amino acid sequence SLLTEV (SEQ ID NO: 42) and wherein the antibody specifically binds to the non-linear epitope with an affinity constant Ka of greater than or equal to 104 M-1 .
