PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescence endoscope observing the internal circumferential face of a luminal subject in a plurality of directions at a fixed distance using fluorescence in fluorescence observation using a side-view type endoscope.
SOLUTION: This fluorescence endoscope is characterized in having: an insertion portion to be inserted into a body cavity 3 a balloon 15 positioning the insertion portion relative to the body cavity 3 in the radial direction of the insertion portion 5 by coming into contact with the inner wall of the body cavity 3 positioned radially to the insertion portion 5 light emission/guide sections 17 and 19 emitting an excitation light irradiated to the inner wall, radially outward the insertion portion, and guiding the fluorescence generated from the inner wall and transmitting through the balloon 15, to the inside of the insertion portion from a plurality of different radial directions of the insertion portion an image pickup section 21 capturing the fluorescence introduced from the light emission/guide sections 17 and 19 and a moving section 23 moving the image pickup section 21 along the optical axis of the fluorescence entering the image pickup section 21 based on a distance between the contact face of the balloon 15 with the inner wall and the insertion portion 5.
