An implant assembly (30) for a long bone is adapted to support an exo-prosthesis. The assembly (30) includes a stem (22), a subdermal component (24) and a percutaneous post (26). The stem (22) has a proximal end (34) that is adapted to be received in a surgically prepared medullary canal of the long bone, and a distal end (4) having a surface that is adapted to promote bone ingrowth. The subdermal component (24) includes a proximal portion (44) that is adapted for attachment to the distal end (40) of the stem (22), and a fixation surface (55) that is adapted to promote soft tissue fixation. The percutaneous post (26) has a proximal end that is adapted to be attached to the subdermal component (24).
