Die vorliegende Erfindung bezieht sich auf einen Katheterballon mit einer Beschichtung enhaltend Rapamycin und Schellack und auf eine Methode zur Beschichtung von Katheterballonen, vorzugsweise von strukturierten Katheterballonen, mit dem pharmakologischen Wirkstoff Rapamycin, Schellack und optional weiteren Bestandteilen. Überdies bezieht sich die vorliegende Erfindung auch auf die Verwendung solchermaßen beschichteter Katheterballons für die Freisetzung des pharmazeutischen Wirkstoffs Rapamycin zur Prophylaxe und Behandlung von Restenose, vorzugsweise von durch Angioplastie verursachter Restenose. Die beschichteten Katheterballone können allein oder in Kombination mit einem beschichteten oder unbeschichteten Stent, der vor oder nach dem Beschichten mit Schellack und Rapamycin auf den Katheterballon gekrimpt wird, verwendet werden.The present invention relates to a catheter balloon with a coating containing rapamycin and shellac and to a method for coating catheter balloons, preferably structured catheter balloons, with the pharmacologically active substance rapamycin, shellac and optionally further constituents.
