A lightweight multi-use collapsible stretcher for carrying a load comprising: two opposing collapsible longitudinal frames； at least one bedding member disposed between said longitudinal frames； and at least one interconnecting bar disposed between said two opposing longitudinal frames and hingedly connected to at least two longitudinal frames. The interconnecting bar comprises first and second sections, which have a position attached to said frame plates when said stretcher is in said folded position and a position transversely deployed towards each other when said stretcher is in said unfolded position. The interconnecting bar has interconnecting means at at least one free terminal thereof； said two opposing collapsible longitudinal frames are interconnectable via interconnecting bar and said interconnecting means in said unfolded position.
