PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slit formation apparatus for cutting an outer peripheral surface of an object, such as a skin of an onion, to form a plurality of slits in a longitudinal direction.SOLUTION: A slit formation apparatus comprises: an expansion rod for restraining an upper center of an object a plurality of arms whose upper parts are pivotally attached to a substrate, and which are formed around the expansion rod and biased toward the central side a guide roller which is supported pivotally below the arms, and whose tread surface at the lower end is set below the arms and a blade part and a blade part which is fixed below the arms, and whose blade tip at the distal end protrudes closer to the expansion rod from an outer peripheral surface of the guide roller.
