A crude microbial oil comprising a fat or an oil comprising a highly unsaturated fatty acid as a constituent fatty acid, said highly unsaturated fatty acid being arachidonic acid (20: 4 ω6) and the content of said fatty acid being highly unsaturated, based in the total fatty acid in the crude oil, not less than 30% by weight and the ester sterols content of the fat or oil being not greater than 1.0% by weight.Un aceite microbiano bruto que comprende una grasa o un aceite que comprende un ácido graso altamente insaturado como un ácido graso constituyente, siendo dicho ácido graso altamente insaturado ácido araquidónico (20:4 ω6) y siendo el contenido de dicho ácido graso altamente insaturado, basándose en el ácido graso total en el aceite bruto, no menor de 30% en peso y siendo el contenido de esteroles de tipo éster de la grasa o el aceite no mayor que 1,0% en peso.
