PURPOSE: A fermentation of Acanthopanacis cortex extract and a formulation containing the same are provided to improve liver function and to improve functionality. CONSTITUTION: An Acanthopanacis cortex fermentation is prepared by heating Acanthopanacis cortex, sterilizing an Acanthopanacis cortex extract in a bioreactor, inoculating mushroom spawn to the extract and culturing/fermenting. The extract for a natural medium is a mixture containing natural products or purified water with the extract. The Acanthopanacis cortex includes Acanthopanax senticosus(RUPR. et MAX.) HARMS, Acanthopanax senticosus var. subinermis KITAGAWA, Acanthopanax sessiliflorus (RUPR. et MAX.) SEEM., Acanthopanax chiisanense NAKAI, Acanthopanax koreanum NAKA, Acanthopanax rufinerve NAKAI, Acanthopanax seoulense NAKAI, and Acanthopanax sieboldianum MAKINO. A formulation for improving liver function contains the extract as an active ingredient.
