Proposed is an emergency stop device (40) for a bale wrapping device (12),having at leastone actuating arm (42) which is intended to be assignable to at least onewrapping arm (36)of the bale wrapping device (12) in a manner running ahead and which, uponcontact withan obstacle, can activate and/or deactivate at least one function of the balewrappingdevice (12), in particular a drive of the wrapping arm (36), wherein theposition of theactuating arm (42) is configured to be variable with respect to the wrappingarm (36). Alsoproposed is a bale wrapping device (12) for enveloping a preferably roundcylindrical bale(34) with an enveloping material (38), having a frame (14) and at least onewrapping arm(36) attached to the frame (14) in a pivotable manner such that it ispreferably able to run atleast regionally around a bale (34) to be wrapped, and a harvesting appliance(10).
