The method for reducing the growth of cancer cells comprises administering a sensitizer. Sensitizers can include selenium, fish oil, and combinations of selenium and fish oil. The method is that selenium and fish oil are administered in amounts effective to increase cancer cell susceptibility, respectively, and that administration of the combination of selenium and fish oil synergizes cancer cell susceptibility more than selenium or fish oil alone. It is contemplated that the dose is administered in an effective amount to increase it.
