Disclosed is a medical implant made at least in part of a polymer. Said medical implant A) is made only in part of one or more biocompatible polymers, at least some of which contain a dye, have a reflective coating, or have their own color; or B) is entirely made of one or more biocompatible polymers, only some of which contain a dye, have a reflective coating, or have their own color; or C) comprises one or more biocompatible polymers which are coated at least in part with a dye film or a reflective layer; or D) at least some of the polymer has a coating which can absorb corresponding dyes when entering in contact with dye-containing body fluids, such that E) the colored or dye-containing polymers (A) or the polymer layers bordering the reflective (A) or dye-absorbent (D) coatings or coatings composed of a dye film can be heated and softened using electromagnetic radiation while the remaining parts of the implant remain solid.
