The drug delivery device includes a container holder assembly and an actuator assembly. The container holder assembly is configured to receive a container for containing the drug. The container holder assembly is configured to engage the actuator assembly. The actuator assembly includes a plunger rod for engaging the stopper within the container. The holding device includes a plunger lock, a retaining member, and a biasing member. The plunger lock seats within the proximal end of the actuator assembly and locks the plunger rod. The retaining member lies within the plunger lock. The biasing member is secured between the proximal end of the actuator assembly and the retaining member.
