A device for measuring mechanical properties of tissues, said device comprising: at least an indenter configured to indent a tissue, said indenter being spring loaded at least a plunger with a protruder, said protruder being configured to travel a distance, due to action upon said plunger at least a force measurement sensor, characterised in that, movement of said plunger causing impingement of said indenter on to said tissue, thereby enabling surface contact of said force measurement sensor with said indenter, and transmitting at least a signal to a computing mechanism to compute force as a function of time for a given tissue and at least a distance measurement sensor, distance travelled by said protruder being used in computing measurement of distance travelled by said distance sensor, by transmitting at least a signal to a computing mechanism to compute distance as a function of time for a given tissue.
