A method for treating a fluid, especially a beverage like beer, wine or fruit juice is provided using a particulate material in the form of a deposited layer having an upstream side and a downstream side wherein a flow of said fluid is directed through said deposited layer from the upstream to the downstream side at a first temperature. In order to extend the period of time during which said particulate material may be used for the treatment it is suggested to recondition said deposited layer and then resuming treatment of said fluid, wherein said reconditioning comprises the steps of - heating the deposited layer to a second temperature and - cooling the deposited layer to a third temperature at an average cooling rate in the range of up to about 20 DEG C/min..Se proporciona un método para tratar un fluido, especialmente una bebida tipo cerveza, vino o jugo de frutas usando un material en partículas en la forma de una capa depositada que tiene un lado corriente arriba y un lado corriente abajo en donde un flujo del fluido se dirige a través de la capa depositada del lado corriente arriba a la corriente abajo en una primera temperatura. Con objeto de extender el periodo de tiempo durante el cual el material en partículas puede usarse para el tratamiento se sugiere reacondicionar la capa depositada y luego reanudar el tratamiento del fluido, en donde el reacondicionamiento comprende las etapas de - calentar la capa depositada a una segunda temperatura y - enfriar la capa depositada a una tercera temperatura en una velocidad de enfriamiento promedio en el intervalo de hasta alrededor de 20°C/min.
