Disclosed are a shaft unit (30) comprising a carbon pipe (10) obtained by molding a carbon fiber composite material sheet after rolling the same in a tapered shape in which the root part thereof is wide and the end part thereof is narrow, a metallic pipe joint (20) bonded to the outer circumferential surface on the end of the carbon pipe (10), and a rubber coated layer (12) formed on the outer circumferential surface on the root part of the carbon pipe (10) and a shaft for a high elevation work tool, which is formed by connecting the shaft units. The carbon fiber composite material sheet is divided at regular intervals between the rubber coating layer (12) and the outer circumferential surface on the root part of the carbon pipe (10) so that multiple taping projections (11) coated with tape are produced. When the projections are bonded to a rubber coated layer (12) that has an appropriate deforming ability, changes can be induced, in which the projections are less compressed and less twisted in the area that becomes wider toward the root of the pipe and in which they are more compressed and more twisted in the area that becomes narrower toward the end of the pipe. Then, a pushback-preventing support surface having a very wide bandwidth is produced. Accordingly, the carbon pipe is far lighter and far stronger than aluminum extruded pipes so as to be used as a shaft for high elevation work.
