PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope in which a guide wire can be locked to a side to prevent the guide wired from going outside the observation view field of an observation window and also prevent a treatment instrument from moving vertically within the observation view field when the treatment instrument is raised.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an endoscope having a treatment instrument raising stand 24 and a side-view type observation window 18, the endoscope including a raising stand receiving part 22 for receiving the treatment instrument raising stand 24, which raising stand receiving part comprises side-wall portions 22A, 22B and a proximal-wall portion 22C. A step portion 28 is provided between the proximal-wall portion 22C and the observation window 18 on a top surface of the side-wall portion 22A where the observation window 18 is formed.
