Substituted imidazole and substituted pyrazole compounds and compositions derived therefrom may be useful in controlling insect pests. Suitable imidazole compounds may be 2,4,5-triphenyl-1h-imidazole analogs, wherein the c-2 phenyl group carries at least one substitution, the c-4 and c-5 phenyl groups are optionally substituted, and n is not substituted. -1 is not replaced. suitable pyrazole compounds may carry a 1,3,4-substitution standard, with an optionally substituted aryl or optionally substituted alkyl group being present at n-1, an optionally substituted aryl group or optionally substituted heteroaryl being present at c-3 , and a secondary amide group being present at c-4.
