A shoulder brace has: a support structure strap retractors such as flatspiral torsion springsmounted to the support structure and left and right shoulder straps eachhaving a first strappart connected to the support structure and a second strap part connected to afree end of arespective spiral torsion spring. A method has the following stages:positioning a supportstructure against a users upper back looping left and right shoulder strapsaround a usersleft and right shoulders, respectively and in which each of the left andright shoulder strapsconnects to the support structure via a strap retractor, such as a spiraltorsion spring forapplying tension through the respective left or right shoulder strap to pullthe usersshoulders back.
