Disclosed is an easy-to-manufacture stent for placement in a body having a coating layer composed of a polymer wherein separation or cracking of the coating layer due to expansion of the stent canbeefficientlyprevented. Specificallydisclosed is a stent for placement in a body which comprises a coating layer composed of a polymer and an intermediate layer arranged between the coating layer and the surface of the stent and composed of a polymer having a higher weight average molecular weight than the polymer of the coating layer. The polymers are preferably biodegradable, and able to contain a medical agent.
