PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planting medium or a planting block excellent in supply stability of water to a planting part.SOLUTION: This medium 10 includes a base body made of porous ceramic. The base body is formed in the inside with the planting part 11 holding soil and plants, a water retention part 12 holding a water absorbing polymer containing water, and a fertilizer part 13 holding a fertilizer-containing substance. Water easily moves from the water retention part 12 to the planting part 11 through many micropores in porous separating the planting part 11, the water retention part 12, and the fertilizer part 13, and nutrition of liquid melting from the fertilizer part 13 easily moves from the fertilizer part 13 to the planting part 11. As a result of this, it is possible to stably supply water from the water retention part 12 to the planting part 11, and the nutrition from the fertilizer part 13 to the planting part 11.
