PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sampling device capable of collecting a sufficient number of cells from a cervical canal in a Pap test.SOLUTION: An endocyte cannula 10 is designed to provide improved and more productive Pap smear tests. The endocyte cannula includes a proximal portion 12 and a distal portion 14. The proximal portion may include a fitting 16 to connect to a user-actuated tool, such as a syringe. The distal portion may include a corkscrew feature 18 having a screw 20 to facilitate movement of the cannula through dense tissue.
