PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oil-based chocolate confectionery with a clear pattern printed with a water-based ink.SOLUTION: A chocolate confectionery with a pattern printed with an edible water-based ink on the surface includes the surface coated with a substrate buffer layer of a buffer agent for printing. A pattern is printed by attaching an edible water-based ink to the surface of the substrate buffer layer. The buffer agent for printing includes water-soluble cellulose selected from hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC). Due to a delicate balance between hydrophilic properties and lipophilic properties, HPC or HPMC has affinity with both of the oil-based chocolate and the water-based ink, achieving both of the coatability to the chocolate surface and the printability.
