PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and magnetic resonance imaging apparatus which can present a determination result of a character of thrombus such as SVS (Susceptibility Vessel Sign).SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes a determination part, and a result output part. The determination part extracts an obliterated portion of a blood vessel from a blood vessel image in which a blood vessel is drawn, and determines information indicating a character of thrombus on the basis of a signal value at a position on a T2weighted image corresponding to the extracted obliterated portion. The result output part outputs a determination result.
