Disclosed is the use of a composition comprising nucleic acid encoding one or more cytokines that induce a cellular immune response in the manufacture of a medicament for treating or ameliorating Alzheimers disease in a subject, wherein said one or more cytokines are: (i) IL-10 (ii) a combination of IL-10 and IL-13 or (iii) a combination of IL-10, IL-13 and IL-4, and wherein the nucleic acid does not encode beta-amyloid or beta-amyloid 1-42.
