PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method for modifying a DLC film by which the hydrophilicity of the DLC film is improved and functions such as biocompatibility can be efficiently imparted.
SOLUTION: The method for modifying a DLC film comprises: a step of forming a diamond-like thin film on a surface of a substrate a step of allowing a reactive area to occur on a surface of the diamond-like thin film by irradiating the diamond-like thin film with first plasma and a step of introducing a hydrophilic functional group by reacting the reactive area with oxygen by irradiating the diamond-like thin film with second plasma containing at least oxygen.
