PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating neuropathic pain of a subject.SOLUTION: A method for treating neuropathic pain of a subject is provided. The method involves the application of a solid-forming local anesthetic formulation to a skin surface of the subject experiencing the neuropathic pain and then maintaining the formulation on the skin surface for a period of time sufficient to provide relief from the neuropathic pain. The solid-forming local anesthetic formulations used in the methods of the present disclosure can include a variety of local anesthetics known in the art.
