596456 Disclosed is a portable inhaler for propellant-free metered nebulization of a medicament preparation with a dispensing device for large animals. The portable inhaler has a pressure generator, and has an expulsion nozzle for delivering the nebulized medicament preparation as an aerosol. The inhaler comprises an add-on device with a chamber for receiving and intermediately storing the aerosol. The inhaler is constructed as a soft mist inhaler producing a low speed aerosol； the pressure generator is in the form of a mechanically operating pump. Either a housing of the inhaler comprises a grip or a handle for holding the add-on device during use or a tensioning device is associated with the inhaler, the tensioning device comprising a holding portion or a grip member and holding the inhaler and the add-on device during use.
