This invention includes surgical retractors (1600) that comprise an expandable frame (1602) that includes at least two base components (1604, 1606, 1608, 1610), a connector, and at least two retractor blades (1612, 1614, 1616, 1618) attached to the expandable frame. Also included are surgical retractors (2800) that comprise a housing component (2802) that includes a cylindrical portion (2806) and a contiguous blade portion (2810), assemblies comprising a surgical retractor assembled to at least one obtruator, illuminated surgical cannulas, and methods of using the same during a surgical procedure.
