The proposed method and device foresee subjecting the trunk of a tree to direct traction in an upward direction. The device consists of a cable (10), on one end of which an engaging means is provided suitable for acting upon a portion of the trunk (12), while a weight (13) is attached to the other end of the said cable, a transmission member (11) being provided between the two ends which defines the direction of the tractive force exerted on the said cable. The cable can act vertically and in the top zone in such a way that the tree grows straight, or laterally at several points so that the tree grows twisted.
