The stimulus delivery is triggered as a function of the detected expiratory onset. A device for stimulating a hypoglossal nerve comprises a neurostimulator, a lead 10 connected to the neurostimulator which has a nerve cuff electrode for delivering electrical stimulus to a portion of the hypoglossal nerve and an algorithm contained in the neurostimulator that triggers stimulation delivery as a function of expiratory onset.
